The Indian Entrepreneur!
"You can't solve a problem at the same level it was created, you have to rise above it to the next level." - Albert Einstein In the heat of starting startups just for valuations, the Indian Entrepreneurs are missing on the originality of the ideas and creativity. The startup buzz in India is so high that everybody wants a share of it. And in this rush, we are missing the very fundamentals. A startup's philosophy should be to solve a problem, not just make money. It should believe in creating an eco system, not to just become another competitor. It should try to offer an easy solution to a large problem; not sell fake solutions. It should think of using minimum resources with improved efficiency; not just use cheap resources left right and center to deliver the solution. Otherwise, any startup is going to fall apart within 12 to 18 months. The excitement at the start, starts dissuading after sometime and eventually dies out a little later. And who do we blame for this for? The founder? Poor chap, he just wanted to take part in this wave. He had an idea, he saw the buzz around, they just dived in. Stop, Think, Act. I blame it on the eco-system. Is the eco-system good enough to take care of this failure? Can the founders handle failures? The reason why I am asking this is because, I don't think our education system is in sync with the current trends. What they teach at school is totally different from the outside reality. What I feel is missing in the current Indian wave of entrepreneurship is the 'shield'. This shield is, the thought process of all the great leaders in this country. Instead of encouraging people to start companies just for the crazy valuations, we need to create a culture of creating healthy coopetition. The culture of starting something meaningful; addressing a large problem for the society; support those who fail a good idea & by creating a positive environment. It always amazes me to see how a small country like UK can have so many big ideas & companies. The nordics have the maximum patents, with minuscule population. All the robust products are from Germany. So many innovations from a country like Japan, which is always under threats from natural calamities. What is it with India; a country with maximum engineers, doctors and professionals? There is something else to it. Anyway, am eager to hear, 'India, whose time has come.' Are you?
